We love your stories
Little Stories, Big Ideas is a flash fiction competition for Australian Secondary School Students.
Winners will be chosen from 2 categories, Years 7 to 9 and Years 10 to 12.
We hope to inspire and encourage the next generation of storytellers.
The competition runs four times per year, and is free to enter.
Each quarterly competition will have a theme.
Entries must be 100 words or less, and incorporate the current theme.
How the theme is included is up to the imagination of the writer.
Any literary style is welcome – short-story form, poem, haiku, limerick, song – but entries must be in English.
Are you the best young writer in Australia?
Term 4 2024 Open for Entries
Welcome to Term 4 everyone! Our theme for Term 4 is ‘WAR’.
There are so many ways to interpret the theme. Be bold! Be creative. We can’t wait to read your entries and celebrate the incredible writing talent we have in our generation next.
You don’t need anyone’s approval to write the story you want to write, so get cracking and and good luck.
A guide for entrants
Be BOLD. Be Courageous. Be Creative. Don’t be afraid to write something because you feel it may displease others, follow your heart and live your truth through your writing. You can say a lot in 100 words. You can even say a lot in 10 words. Interpret the theme as creatively as you like and in any writing style whether that be poetry or prose. And most importantly of all, it’s the message your writing conveys that is important, not whether your grammar is 100% correct. So don’t be afraid to enter and know that we will treasure your words whether you win or not.
